What Do Women Want

I have often wondered what attracts me to certain men and not others. I've never been attracted to the really hot guys, I find them nice to look at but I have no real attraction to them. I usually prefer the real manly-looking men. Russel Crowe is an example of my dream man ; ) Yet none of my boyfriends look anything like each other!! We'll go down the list:

1. The ex-fiance (that's a whole other story) He was half black, half white with gold eyes, literally they were gold colored.

The next short lived bf was pretty short, 5'6", with black hair and green eyes (he was a boxer and had great abs!)

The guy after that was very very short, I'm talking 5'3" short, blond and blue eyed

4. My next sort-of bf was very tall, thin, but built-he was a marine

5. Then there was Weston, the guy from Missouri that I met on Eharmony, he was 5'7", brown hair and eyes with a goatee and mustache

6. After him was Mr. Big, half Mexican half white, very tall but big and muscular. Tanned skin, jet black hair and eyes, very handsome

7. Then there was my friend Brian that I went on a few dates with, he was average height, black hair, blue eyes, big arms and lots of tattoos

8. Then the nice guy that I tried dating for like a minute. He was a body builder, blond and blue eyed

9. And then there was Mike : ) He's my ideal look for a guy; tall and muscular, brown hair and eyes, broad shoulders. He's not super hot in a conventional way but I love the way he looks.

So back to my original question, what attracts me to them? And what attracts them to me and not the girl next to me? Is it all about looks or is it a chemical reaction? One researcher thinks the colors women wear affect how a man feels about her:

Our research demonstrates a parallel in the way that human and nonhuman male primates respond to red," concluded the authors. "In doing so, our findings confirm what many women have long suspected and claimed – that men act like animals in the sexual realm. As much as men might like to think that they respond to women in a thoughtful, sophisticated manner, it appears that at least to some degree, their preferences and predilections are, in a word, primitive. ----Science Daily

I found this utterly hilarious. Even science can't come up with a better reason for why men act the way they do other than that they act like animals. Maybe they really can't help it...or maybe the researcher is also a man and feels validated in acting like an animal. Hmmm....

I believe we are attracted to men who fit comfortably with what we are really looking for underneath the outward. For those who are ultimately concerned with image, classic good looks are all they can accept. For those looking for security, someone who they feel could protect them and who looks good, but not so good that everyone would be after them, etc. Does that make sense? Or, of course, sometimes we are attracted to someone because they remind of us of someone else, like men who are looking for their "mother" to marry :)

Maybe it's something with their personality? Someone who can make me really laugh is a bigger turn on then someone hot.

It sounds like a lot of the guys are complete opposites (looks wise) and it must have been something with their personalities that attracted you.
Very interesting...
