Relationships are a funny thing. One day you can be feeling great about it and the next it's over. Does something happen to change things, or were things screwed up from the start and you just can't see it?
When someone you love, and who claims to love you, doesn't make you a priority in their life it hurts. When you tell them this and they call you a drama queen it pisses you off. This was the case last night. In the story of Mike and Rachel, chapter 3, things were going fine until this week. I was working on not letting the little things piss me off, and he was trying to be better about not losing his temper. The thing he wasn't working on was letting me into his life. Once again, he let work and playing poker at the casino take precedence over spending time with me. The work part I won't complain about because I work a ton too, but when my boyfriend-whom I haven't seen since last Wednesday-has chance to see me and spend time with me and chooses instead to play in a poker tournament TWICE this week, I get pissed. I tried to address the issue without sounding bitchy and let him know that it hurt that I was back in his life but once again felt like I took last place after everything else. He flipped out as usual and told me I was being a drama queen and that I should know better than to bring it up when he's having a stressful week. I told him that he's not dating a doormat and that when I'm upset about something I'm going to talk to him about it and not just hold it inside. After 3 hours of fighting over and over again we decided it was a mistake to try things again and that it would be best if we simply left each other alone.
I cried, he yelled, then it was over. The funny thing is, last night I slept like a baby for the first time in weeks.

If you wanna be my lover...you gotta get with my friends
Remember that song? Ahh the Spice Girls. As annoying as this group is, they have a point. If a guy wants to be my boyfriend I would like them to be friends with my friends. Here's what's always been one of my biggest problems with Mike. He has absolutely no interest in hanging out with, or meeting my friends. Also, he doesn't have many friends here because he's new to town as well and works all the time. The whole time we were dating last year neither of us met any of the others friends or family. (Except for him meeting my parents when they helped move me in-which is the ONLY reason he met them. I don't like to do the whole "parents" thing early on.) It always bothered me, and we fought about it but he just said that since he doesn't drink he doesn't want to hang out with me and my friends when we're drinking. Let me clarify that I really don't drink that much so this always irritates me.
Anywhoooooo, the reason for my annoyance today is that #1. He never called me back last night because he had a work meeting or whatever #2. My work friends and I are going bowling tonight and I asked if he wanted to come and of course his answer was "That's not really my scene to be at a bowling alley with a bunch of drunk people. Let's hang out after." To which I replied, "Will you answer your phone if I call you when I'm done?" I then got the "you have an attitude" speech, we both got annoyed, and he said he'd call later.
Why is it that we're so compatible when we're alone, but he has no desire to meet my friends and even try to have fun? I'm a social girl, my friends are everything to me and especially the ones here because I have so few of them!
Why is it so hard??

Yawn

Good morning lovelies. I feel like I ate a brick last night. Seriously. Had the best meal ever but it was so so bad for me. We had a work meeting at one of my favorite expensive restaraunts "Seven". We started with two bottles of cabernet sauvignon, calimari, and crab cakes. Yummy... Then for the main course we had the Seven Filet, which is an 8oz filet topped with king crab and bolognese sauce. For the sides, which they serve family style for the whole table, were spicy hash browns with jalepenos and peppers, creamed spinach, and steamed mushrooms. Then for dessert, yes we got dessert, we had a vanilla bean creme brulee and this decadent bread pudding with a side of vanilla ice cream. Just writing about it makes me feel like my stomach will explode. In my defense I only had one bite of dessert and lots of spinach : )

Also, my boss told me last night that it's looking more and more like I'm going to be moving to DALLAS!!!!!!
Poor Mike had a terrible night. Without going into detail, there were major issues at work and he was in the office until 12:30. I would not want his job, his salary maybe, but not the job. Hopefully things clear up today so he isn't as stressed out.

Man Update
Me and Mike in South BeachWell, I haven't written about men for awhile because there really wasn't much to write. But I have an update! Mike (see previous posts: http://lifeofasinglegirl2007.blogspot.com/2008/06/im-ba-ackthis-could-be-bad-thing.html) and I finally sat down and talked last night about us. I may be getting transferred to Dallas, TX soon and figured he and I better figure things out before I get the call to move.
Mike is not the best at talking about "feelings", typical man, so I wasn't sure how things would go when we actually talked about everything. We broke up in September and didn't speak for months until Thanksgiving. Since then we've seen each other twice and talked on the phone almost everyday. So we talked about things and agreed that we still love each other and don't want to see anyone else, but we still aren't sure if we're right for each other. But we decided to give it another try, take things slow and see where they go. If I get transferred then he'll fly to see me and fly me up to see him as much as possible and we'll go from there.
I'm happy, but cautious at the same time. I'm glad that we're on the same page and that we agreed to try again, but I'm going to work very hard-and so is he-to not have the same problems as before. My fingers are crossed : )
